Yellowcard

Yellowcard is a band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1997, and based in Los Angeles, California since 2000. Their music features the use of a violin, unusual for the genre. They are best-known for their songs "Ocean Avenue", "Only One", "Lights and Sounds", and "Light Up the Sky".

The band is on a self-described "hiatus."

Yellowcard was formed in 1997 in Jacksonville, Florida after meeting at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. The band released its first album, Midget Tossing, in 1997. The original members were vocalist Ben Dobson, guitarist/vocalist Todd Clary, bassist Warren Cooke, guitarist Ben Eric Harper, and drummer Longineu W. Parsons III ("LP"). While vocalist/violinist Sean Mackin was featured on some of the songs, he was not a full-fledged member yet, as he still objected to many of the band's messages.

Where We Stand, their second album, featured the same lineup as Midget Tossing, and Mackin was featured on more songs. Soon Ben Dobson was replaced by Ryan Key(vocals and rhythm guitar), because Ryan's father said he would fund the new album's recording. Ryan Key was formerly in a Jacksonville local who was playing in a band called Craig's Brother. This changed the band's music style drastically, from hardcore punk to pop punk. It also changed most of their fan base, leaving them with a new beginning and a fresh start as a band.

In early 2000, the band recorded the Still Standing EP. Soon after Still Standing EP was released, Todd Clary left the band. Key then filled both Clary's and Dobson's duties, guitar and vocals respectively. After sending the new EP to friend Steve Lubarsky at Lobster Records, the band signed their first recording contract in June 2000 and by November had headed west to Camarillo, CA to begin working on another full length album.

The group released their third album, One for the Kids (Lobster Records), in 2001 and followed up with The Underdog EP (Fueled by Ramen Records) in 2002. Both of these were well-received by fans. However, soon after The Underdog EP was released, Warren Cooke left the band due to personal reasons. The band then asked an old friend, Peter Mosely from Inspection 12, to play bass for them. Before Warren Cooke left, the band filmed an unreleased music video for the song "Powder". The video was later put on the enhanced version of the band's next album, Ocean Avenue.

A few of there classy songs are:
Powder
Only One
Ocean Avenue
Walk Away
Light Up The Sky

Hinder

Hinder is an American rock band from Oklahoma that was formed in 2001 by drummer Cody Hanson, guitarist Joe Garvey, and singer Austin Winkler. Before starting Hinder, Winkler (b. October 25, 1981) played in a cover band. He then formed Hinder with Cody Hanson. Winkler and Hanson wrote the band's song "Lips of an Angel", with music producer Brian Howes, which peaked at #3 on Billboard Hot 100. Winkler continues to write the bulk of the band's music with Brian Howes and Cody Hanson.

In April 2003, before making it big, Hinder entered the March Bandness contest for Oklahoma City radio station KHBZ-FM (94.7). They made it to the Final Four out of a field of thirty-two, ultimately losing to the OKC group Falcon Five-O. They released their first EP titled Far from Close in 2003 on an independent record label, Brickden Records. It sold about 5,000 copies. The three members then began working on new material in 2004 for their next independent release. These demos caught the attention of several major record labels.

A favorite hinder song is lips of an angel... its a wonderful songs with classy beats

Honey why you calling me so late?
It's kinda hard to talk right now.
Honey why are you crying? Is everything okay?
I gotta whisper 'cause I can't be too loud

Well, my girl's in the next room
Sometimes I wish she was you
I guess we never really moved on
It's really good to hear your voice saying my name
It sounds so sweet
Coming from the lips of an angel
Hearing those words it makes me weak

And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel

American Idol

This is what the Top 8 performed this week

1) Lee Dewyze: "Fireflies" by Owl City

Yep, this was one of the spoilers I laughed about. What little charm this song has is in its twee delivery and the '80s video game noises in the background and I knew that Lee Dewyze was going to try to rock out to it. Nick Jonas does a stripped-down lo-fi take on this, and it kind of works -- but Lee tried to turn it into a hard-charging number and it was warbly and weird. But hey, I'll take it over Hinder.

2) Alex Lambert: "Trouble" by Ray LaMontagne

Wow, Alex Lambert's mullet was in full effect tonight. Something about the blue stage lights really highlighted it. He did a nice job on this, although I fear the song is kind of done to death after the million times it's been played in the Travelers Insurance TV ad with the dog. (And frankly, I wonder if Ray LaMontagne is dying inside between his song being used in an ad and then on "American Idol.")

3) Tim Urban: "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley (among others, ahem.)

Yeah, hallelujah for your abs, Tim Urban. And this was the other one that I was cackling about in the spoilers. This is pretty much the perfect song and it just shouldn't be attempted on "American Idol." I didn't like it when Jason Castro did it, either. I'm dropping the Janis Joplin penalty flag on this one. That being said, Tim didn't embarrass himself. I don't know if he quite deserved the hug Ellen DeGeneres gave him, but he has gotten better each week and is kind of creating a nice storyline for himself.

4) Andrew Garcia: "Genie In A Bottle" by Christina Aguilera

This was not one of the spoilers. If it had been, I would not have believed it. The judges have led you horribly astray, Andrew Garcia. When they keep praising you for "Straight Up," it DOES NOT MEAN THEY WANT YOU TO SING ALL DANCEY POP SONGS ACOUSTIC. Sorry, I'm shouting! He has such a nice voice and such a distinct tone and he has a neck tattoo and he just shouldn't be singing Xtina. No more pop tarts. Sublime. Sing Sublime. Not just because of the neck tattoo.

5) Casey James: "You'll Think of Me" by Keith Urban

So here's a question: So Katelyn Epperly does her hair like Carole King Tuesday night and the judges comment on it favorably. Why can't Casey James do his hair in the lil' feathered Keith Urban look? And why is Randy Jackson naming the original artist in all his critiques? It sounds like he's trying to prove he knows what he's talking about. And why am I not talking about Casey's performance? Because it doesn't matter. He's a pretty, pretty prince, so he's safe.

6) Aaron Kelly: "I'm Already There" by Lonestar

Hey Aaron Kelly, speak up. Oh no wait, don't! That was pitchtacular. He hit like one note out of every ten. It sounded like he was singing in a stadium and he was terrified when the echo came back to him. That being said, he's 16, and there is something to say about his poise on stage compared to train wreck Katie Stevens last night. Oh, Aaron, just comply with Simon's wishes and sing something that will bring in the Bieber money.

7) Todrick Hall: "Somebody To Love" by Queen

Smart choice, Todrick Hall -- you didn't frill it out beyond recognition, taking on Freddie Mercury proves you can sing -- and plus, it was on "Glee" so the young "AI" audience will know the song. This was so, so much better than his previous weeks. That being said, he let the backup singers do a lot of the heavy work in order to keep it in his range. I could not be more surprised that it was one of my favorite of the night.

8) Michael Lynche: "This Woman's Work" by Maxwell (among others, ahem.)

Michael Lynche, you actually give me hope that all the guys aren't going to be voted off in quick succession after the guys and gals merge next week. This was terrific. No wonder you got the pimp spot. And I'm not surprised that you made Kara DioGuardi cry, but I am surprised you spurred Simon to give her a comforting hug. The iceman melteth.

So who's gonna go? Oh, I am cranky. I wish I could get over this thing on guys' night where I think, "Oh, Kris Allen would have done that better" or, "Oh, Adam Lambert would have done that better." Sigh, nostalgia. I say they're all at risk except for Casey James and Michael Lynche. If I were Aaron Kelly or Andrew Garcia -- gasp! -- I'd be worried.

Simple Plan

Simple Plan is a French Canadian pop punk band, based in Montréal, Québec. They have released three studio albums: No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls (2002), Still Not Getting Any... (2004), and Simple Plan (2008); as well as two widely marketed live albums: Live in Japan 2002 (2003) and MTV Hard Rock Live (2005).

Simple Plan began in 1993 with the formation of a band named Reset by friends Pierre Bouvier, Charles-André "Chuck" Comeau, Philippe Jolicoeur, and Adrian White.Reset toured around Canada with bands such as MXPX, Ten Foot Pole, and Face to Face, but only managed to gain modest popularity. The debut album, No Worries, was released in 1998, and Comeau left soon after to go to college. Two years later he met with high school friends Jean-François "Jeff" Stinco and Sébastien Lefebvre who were in separate bands of their own, and combined to create the band. Meanwhile, Reset released a second CD, No Limits (the two CDs would be re-released as a single CD in 2006, with liner note comments from Bouvier and Comeau). In late 1999, Comeau and Bouvier reacquainted at a Sugar Ray concert and Bouvier left Reset soon after to join Comeau. David Desrosiers replaced Bouvier in Reset, but he too left the band six months later. This allowed Bouvier, who had doubled as the band's front man and bassist, to concentrate on the singing.

The origin of the band's name is obscure. Band members have given various comical responses on this point, including that the band was their simple plan to avoid obtaining a "real" job. However, most likely, the name is derived from the movie "A Simple Plan".

A few of there great songs are:
Untitled
Welcome To My Life
Your Love Is A Lie
I Do Anything
Perfect
