Backstreet Boys

The Backstreet Boys are an American vocal group. They were formed in Orlando, Florida and have been together since 1993. They have 14 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and have sold over 130 million records worldwide, making them one of the biggest selling groups of all time. According to the US Billboard 200, the Backstreet Boys are the first artist since Sade to have their first seven albums reach top 10 on the chart. When they returned to the pop scene in 2005, their sound had changed drastically, incorporating only live instruments (some of which they play themselves) and a more guitar and piano driven pop-rock sound. After the 2005–2006 tour, original member Kevin Richardson left the group on June 23, 2006, to start a family, but the four-piece refused to rule out a possible return for the singer. The now four-member group consists of Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and A. J. McLean. The quartet has since released two albums, the most recent on October 6, 2009, titled This Is Us, which went back to pop music, although is still considerably different from their classic sound, with This Is Us being more R&B.

Good songs are:
I want it that way

Plain White T's

The Plain White T's is an American pop rock band started in 1997, originally from Villa Park, Illinois. Formed by high school friends Tom Higgenson and Ken Fletcher, the group had a mostly underground following in Chicago basements, clubs, and bars in its early years, and underwent numerous personnel changes. The band is best known for the songs "Hey There Delilah", which charted highly in many countries, and "1, 2, 3, 4". In 2008, they received a Grammy nomination for "Hey There Delilah". The band broke into the mainstream following the success of "Hey There Delilah" and the well-received "Hate (I Really Don't Like You)" from the album Every Second Counts. The group's latest album is Big Bad World, released in 2008.

Hey There Delilah is my all time favourite song. This songs lyrics are so wonderful that it just takes your breath away. My favourite lines from this song are

Hey there Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice, it's my disguise
I'm by your side

Hey there Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all

This song is enough reason for me to like this band.

Heiskanen quit the band in 1998 and was soon replaced by Aki Hakala.

Before releasing their fourth studio album Into (2001), they were simply known as Rasmus, but changed their name to The Rasmus in order to avoid being confused with a Swedish DJ of the same name. They gained international fame with their 2003 album Dead Letters which went gold and platinum in several countries, accompanied with the single "In the Shadows" which reached number 1 in a number of countries. Their follow-up album Hide from the Sun which was released in October 2005 also went platinum in Finland.

2 States: The Story of my Marriage

"2 States" was pretty good. I've enjoyed all of Chetan Bhagat's books so far barring One night @ call centre, and was pleasantly surprised to find this was a sequel to his first one "Five Point Someone" that had the characters I liked the most.

Told from the perspective of Krish starting when he joins Indian Institute of Management and meets Ananya in line at the cafeteria where she doesn't like the food. After a little rocky start, they fall in love, move in together in the college and graduate, with most of their school time not told in the story.

At graduation the trouble begins… They're in love, but they're from different states in India with different cultures, and their families instantly hate each other when they try to get them to meet during the graduation activities. Both families are rude to each other, with Krish's mother far outdoing Ananya's parents in her hatred of south Indians.

While it's not looking good, Krish takes a job in Chennai so he can be close to Ananya and work on getting her parents to accept him. It doesn't start smooth, with him an alien in Chennai and Ananya's parents flat out telling them they cannot marry. But since he's working there, he has time.

Once he's accepted by them, then it's time to work on his mother during a weeklong business trip Ananya has to Delhi.

By the end of that fiasco, I was so sure the marriage wasn't going to happen, except that the subtitle of the book is "the story of my marriage" which gave some hope. I cared about the two of them and wanted a happy ending.

Overall it was a good book. Lots and lots of tension, lots of hopeless situations. Krish and Ananya have to really work to get what they want, Chetan Bhagat doesn't simply give it to them without a struggle.

I just loved the book. It is definitely better than all his other books baring Five Point Someone.
The books arouses your interest right as you read the blurb.

Love marriages around the world are simple:
Boy loves girl. Girl loves boy. They get married.

In India, there are a few more steps:

Boy loves Girl. Girl loves Boy.
Girl's family has to love boy. Boy's family has to love girl.
Girl's Family has to love Boy's Family. Boy's family has to love girl's family.

Girl and Boy still love each other. They get married.

After reading this blurb I could not put this book down.Even though the book has its share of ups and downs , I recommend this book to all those who loved Five Point Someone.

Paths Of Glory

Abel Rosnovski, Charlie Trumper, Richard Armstrong, Florentyna Kane .... you can add one more name to that list of Jeffrey Archer's Legendary Characters - George Mallory. Archer spins a memorable tale around a real life character. He uses real life names and events and along with his magical story telling ability, Paths of Glory becomes a real Masterpiece.

There isn't much to tell when your hero lives for all of 38 years. But Archer has the gift for describing even small events and twists in such vibrant detail that not once do you want to put the book down. Except for George Finch there is no other character that Archer dwells upon too much. Mallory is the outright central character, never away from even a single page of the novel.

Google - "George Mallory", thats what I did the moment I finished the Book. His real life story is just as fascinating. This wasn't Archers best book but it is still a great book nevertheless.

Kutless is a Christian rock band formed in 2000. To date they have a total of six studio albums including their latest, It Is Well. The band has also released a live album, Live from Portland. Currently, they have sold over 1.4 million records.

Formed in Portland, Oregon as a Worship band named Call Box in 2000. They changed their name to "Kutless" before releasing their first three track EP followed up by their full-length album in 2002 on BEC Recordings. Kutless chose their name because of a specific Bible verse. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (NRSV). Because of this, the band says, "He took our cuts for us... leaving us 'Kutless'." Their first single was called "Your Touch". Their second single from their debut album, "Run", would go on to hold the record for the longest charting song in the history of the R&R Top 40 charts.

Switchfoot

Switchfoot is an American alternative rock band from San Diego, California. The band's members are Jon Foreman (lead vocals, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass guitar, backing vocals), Chad Butler (drums, percussion), Jerome Fontamillas (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), and Drew Shirley (guitar, backing vocals).

They are known for their energetic live shows,[ the three guitarists in the line-up often operate simultaneously. Building on the pop sensibilities of Foreman's songwriting, rounded out by Fontamillas's bringing his industrial roots with his synthesizer, the band works up "the Switchfoot sound" – a melodic crunch of densely layered sound featuring some electronic experimentation, and often driven by hard-charging guitar riffs, while throwing in a few softer ballads as well.

After early successes in the Christian rock scene, Switchfoot first gained mainstream recognition with the inclusion of four of their songs in the 2002 movie A Walk to Remember. This recognition led to their major label debut, The Beautiful Letdown, which was released in 2003. It went on to sell over 2.6 million copies and produced the band's best-known singles, "Meant to Live" and "Dare You to Move".

According to Jon Foreman, the name "Switchfoot" is a surfing term. "We all love to surf and have been surfing all our lives so to us, the name made sense. To switch your feet means to take a new stance facing the opposite direction. It's about change and movement, a different way of approaching life and music".The band has completed their seventh studio album, Hello Hurricane, which released in North America on November 10, 2009.
